How to make eyelashes go towards the same direction?

I wonder if anyone else has the same problem but my eyelashes grow in different directions. So if I try to curl them, some of the hairs still don't get curled and if I put mascara on some of them don't have a coat on. Also if I put too much mascara on they clump together looking weird lol Any solutions?
